ReSolve in the New Year

Ah, New Year's! Full of hope, promise and resolutions. Then comes next week... when inevitably someone has already "failed" at their resolution. But take heart! There's a beautiful solution, found in the word itself.
I know I'm a word nerd. And occasionally words strike me in a different way. "Resolve." Doesn't it literally mean to solve again? Well, if something is already solved, it means you already know or have the answer. It also means you might have to find or apply the answer more than once.
Maybe you resolve to improve your health, your financial situation, a relationship or something about yourself you've deemed worthy of the effort of work. The good news is, the resolutions, the vows, the promises and the commitments you make today are not pieces of new information. They're goals you've had all along. They're things you've previously recognized that are not as you want them.
Maybe you haven't always known the action steps to make those goals realities. Maybe you're seeking advice or help to achieve them.
But the good news is this! The word itself RE-solve means that, no matter how many times you fail to meet your goal, you still know the answer and can work towards it again.
So let me encourage one primary resolution: BOOTSTRAP.
When you mess up, when you make a mistake, when you "cheat" on your goal, bootstrap your way back. Pick yourself up and try again. One bad meal, one poor choice, one "oopsie" does not have to undo your entire year!
Bootstrap yourself and go back to work. ReSolve your answer. Steel yourself up to meet your goal.
If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. Bootstrap. ReSolve.
